I was born in Nottinghamshire and moved to Essex in 1984 where I live with my husband Chris and 2 stepchildren, Nikki and Alex, Japanese Akita Mackeson, Ragdoll Buster and rabbits Rupert and Dottie.
I made my first soft toy, a fox, at about the age of eight from a kit which was a Christmas present from an Auntie. From then I was hooked, making toys for presents, firstly from patterns and then designing patterns of my own. I made my first jointed bear about 5 years ago.
Each of my bears is an individual. When I take a piece of mohair and start cutting I have a definite idea of how the finished bear will look.
I have great fun scouring Antique fairs and markets looking for accessories for my bears and my favourite task is thinking of names for them. Most of my accessories are vintage or antique, sometimes I buy an item and then make the bear to fit it.
In my spare time I study German and Spanish at college and go to watercolour painting classes.
